Allen County Common Threads and The Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce have joined together in a “grass roots” long range planning initiative called The Allen 2020 Project. Our goal is to create a 20/20 vision of how we would like for community life in Allen County, Ohio to look in the year 2020.
The Allen 2020 process is designed to bring together interested citizens from a wide geographical area of Allen County as well as a broad spectrum of interests. It has organized ten task force teams. Each team deals with an area of interest that represents a key “building block” of community life. Each team has two or three Co-Chairs. The Co-Chairs of all the teams make up the Allen 2020 Commission.
Team meetings are held monthly in workshop sessions to develop visions for their respective areas of interest. The meetings are open to any interested citizen who would like to participate. The Allen 2020 Commission also meets monthly to keep the project coordinated.
We hope you will take the time to explore the contents of this site. You are invited to stay tuned to the progress the task force teams are making and to provide input to the teams with your own suggestions.
We believe that Allen County is a good community and that we have dedicated elected officials. However, we hope to provide some ideas and proposals that can cause Allen County to become a truly great community. If you would like to help, then, Welcome!
